SAINT JOHN (GNB) – The provincial and federal governments will invest a combined $600,000 to replace a deteriorating culvert on Red Head Road in Mispec.
“Our government is focused on maintaining and upgrading our existing infrastructure,” said Hampton MLA Gary Crossman. “These improvements are important to ensuring this road remains safe for residents of Mispec and visitors to the community. We are pleased to see the provincial and federal governments working together to make these much-needed improvements.”
Crossman attended for Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Oliver.
“We continue to work hard to make sure that roadways across the province are safe and convenient to use,” said Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long. “Upgrades to this part of Red Head Road will help keep residents, local businesses and visitors moving safely, and without delays.”

The corrugated steel culvert at the Mispec Beach outlet will be replaced with a marine-grade concrete culvert. The existing culvert is compromised, leaving large gaps where material from the embankment is washing into the culvert.
Provincial funding is provided through the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s $493-million capital budget, while federal funding comes from the Rural and Northern Infrastructure Communities Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
The provincial and federal governments are each contributing $300,000 to the project.
