Overview
A Bituminous Shale Lease is a legal agreement authorizing production operations of bituminous shale.
Eligibility
Applicant must hold a bituminous shale development permit.
Description
The area of a lease will be determined by taking into consideration the extent and nature of proven resource, capacity of the plant or other works to be constructed and the requirements for operation of the plant for a period of at least thirty years.
A Bituminous Shale Lease is granted for an initial term of ten years with the right of renewal for consecutive 10 year periods.
Fees
Unless otherwise specified, Fees exclude the harmonized sales tax (HST).
