Overview

An Elevator Contractor's Licence authorizes the holder to carry out elevating device construction, alterations, and maintenance.

Eligibility

To qualify for a Class A Elevator Contractor's Licence, applicants must hold an elevator mechanic's card (issued by a recognized organization) or have four years of related experience and must have successfully completed a contractor's exam, or employ a person with those qualifications.

To qualify for a Class B Elevator Contractor's Licence, applicants must hold an elevator mechanic's card (issued by a recognized organization) or have four years of related experience and must have successfully completed a contractor's exam, or employ a person with those qualifications.

Description

A Class A Elevator Contractor's Licence authorizes the holder to carry out construction, alterations and maintenance on all elevating devices except construction hoists.

A Class B Elevator Contractor's Licence authorizes the holder to carry out construction and alterations on freight platform lifts, dumbwaiters and lifts for persons with physical disabilities.
