Overview

This department provides New Brunswickers with a toll-free number to report violations of the Smoke-free Places Act and to obtain additional information on this legislation.

Eligibility

Any individual or company wishing to report a violation of the Smoke-free Places Act or wishing further information may call the information line.

Description

The Smoke-free Places Act restricts smoking in public places and workplaces. This department, the Department of Public Safety and the WorkSafe NB have partnered to enforce the requirements of this Act. Individuals or companies who call the toll-free number to report a violation of the Smoke-free Places Act will be asked to provide basic information about the violation. Depending on the nature of the violation this information is provided to local enforcement personnel with one of the three departments listed above for investigation. If the violation is verified upon investigation, warnings and orders may be written and issued.
