FREDERICTON (GNB) – Property Tax Notices for 2022 will be issued on April 1 this year rather than on March 1 as the government further examines the provincial property tax framework.

“In light of recent developments in the real estate market, we are taking a closer look at the provincial property tax system which is resulting in a short delay for property tax bills this year,” said Finance and Treasury Board Minister Ernie Steeves. “Any changes to provincial property taxes and potential relief to renters will be communicated to New Brunswickers once a decision has been made.”

With this delay in billing, property owners will have until the end of June to pay their property tax without incurring a penalty.

Those participating in the equalized payment plan will receive a letter informing them on how their 12-month equalized payment cycle will be maintained.
