Description

The Moving Forward Program is 10-12 weekly sessions over a three-month period. Group guidelines and trained facilitators help to create a safe, secure and predictable environment for children to share their experiences. Children’s groups cover such topics as awareness of feelings, safety planning and positive problem solving. Mothers groups are held during the same week their children attend their group. The mother's group offers women an opportunity to reflect on how to support their children's healing and an opportunity to gain information and support in understanding the impact of the abuse on their children.

The Moving Forward program is accessed directly by contacting the local co-ordinator. The co-ordinator can make arrangements with participants for childcare and transportation so they can attend the group.
