Overview
The provincial government made a commitment to implement a pay equity program targeting child care staff working in provincially registered child care facilities.
Eligibility
Child care staff working in provincially registered child care facilities.
Description
In New Brunswick, child care staff is predominately women.
The program will:
• consult with child care staff and employers, and provide regional information sessions;
• complete job descriptions. (based on selected sample of workers);
• complete job evaluations; and
• provide the results and recommendations of the pay equity program to government.
The goal of the program is to determine if Child Care staff in registered daycares are undervalued and determine if any pay inequity exist.
Pay inequity has a social and economic impact to both women and men.
