Government of New Brunswick
Office of First Nation Education

The mission of the Office of First Nation Education (OFNE) is to promote the academic success, personal well-being, citizenship and career preparedness of First Nation students in New Brunswick provincial schools, and to educate the public at large about First Nation cultures, histories and current realities.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has signed memoranda of understanding with all First Nation communities in the province.  These agreements address all aspects of preparing First Nation students for academic success.  The department also has signed a memorandum of understanding with several First Nation communities concerning the development of treaty education materials.  Finally, the department is engaged in the development of enhancement agreements with all First Nation communities in New Brunswick as well as with Listuguj First Nation in Quebec.  These agreements ensure that specific funds are dedicated to the educational and social success of First Nation students.
